As some of you know, last Christmas Jana and I tried a new approach with our Christmas tree. We went with a branch instead of a tree. The previous five Christmases, we had a fake Christmas tree we used that was cumbersome. Inevitably, Jana and I would seem to get into some stupid argument while setting it up or tearing it down. We hated storing it. I was glad to get rid of it, and I was surprised by how much I liked our minimalist tree.

We repeated our minimalism approach with the Christmas tree this year. We cut off a few branches from our front tree and came up with this.

The boys love it regardless, and enjoy decorating it with their ornaments.

Here are some of the ornaments. Many of them ornaments are gifts Jana and I gave to the boys, or each other.

We had just finished all the available books in the Guardians of the Childhood series, so it seemed appropriate to get Jack Frost.*

*Despite Jack Frost having not appeared in any of the books yet! However, you can find him in the film version.

Our tree may not be impressive by normal standards, but we love it. Plus, I like being able to see the ornaments better, and there is a lot of sentimental value with those since many of them are gifts.
