Over halfway through the LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar and making connections with the Nativity and Jesus. While I hope it is thought-provoking, I want it to be fun as well. Thanks for reading.

On a day of indescribable violence, we have tools of violence in the calendar today.

I can’t escape the school shooting and nearly twenty children (as of now) being murdered. Yes, I understand the statement of “guns don’t kill people, people kill people”. However, in nearly all situations of a gun being used, it is used to kill someone or something.

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”Revelation 21:1-4 (ESV)

The day is coming when there will be no more death. There will not be mourning, crying or pain. On a day like today, that seems like foolish talk. It seems like a myth. And, if we were to believe it, it seems the day will never come.

It will be here soon.

That eternal peace is on its way, thanks to Jesus enduring the violence of the cross. He was born into this fallen world so he could restore and redeem it.

“It is finished.”

When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?”1 Corinthians 15:54-55 (ESV)

O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?

May that day come quickly.
